USC Essentials of Emergency Medicine - Main Conference
The USC Essentials course is one of the largest educational conferences in all of Emergency Medicine. Each year the course combines exceptional speakers from across North America and from the USC Department of Emergency Medicine. The course is known for its high-end multimedia presentations, short to-the-point lectures and a fun and exciting atmosphere.

The host, Mel Herbert, founder and editor of EM:RAP, brings a level of intensity and good humor to the conference that is truly infectious. The Department of Emergency Medicine at USC is one of the oldest and largest in the country, with an extremely busy trauma center and EM training program. When these forces combine with the best faculty from across the country, the product is a conference that has quickly become a "do not miss" event!

ECG Course: Pearls and Pitfalls - Program Director: Jeffrey Tabas, MD
This mini-program presents a practical algorithmic approach to ECG abnormalities encountered in the ED setting. The participant will learn the language and tricks of the ECG experts in this highly-rated session that has been a component of the Essentials program since its inception. With revised materials and newly added ECGs, this session is a must for every ED clinician.

ECG Course: Advanced - Program Director: Amal Mattu, MD
This course builds on the ECG Pearls and Pitfalls course and takes the participant to the next level. A series of high-risk ECGs will be presented with findings that are well-defined but rarely taught. This course is an exceptional chance to read ECGs like the experts, providing knowledge that surpasses that of many cardiologists.

Orthopedic Review Course - Program Director: Kelleher Brothers
Orthopedics is an essential component of Emergency Medicine. The "Kelleher Brothers" will present an in-depth review of upper extremity orthopedics and radiology, and a focused review of the lower extremity. The program is presented by two brothers: one is an Emergency Physician, the other is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon. This unique session will bring the participants up-to-date with regard to current orthopedic practices for the most common fractures and injuries of the upper extremity.

Trauma Review Course - Program Director: Sanjay Arora, MD
This unique session will review the basics of trauma evaluation and resuscitation. Starting with getting a picture of the incident, ABCs, C-spine clearance and imaging, use of ultrasound and x-rays, a stepwise approach to intubation, splinting, pelvic binders, control of external hemorrhage, compartment pressure measurements, tips and tricks on central and IO line placement, chest tubes and much more. This intense video course will use real and mock scenarios and an impressive amount of video material to highlight the key aspects of trauma care. The director of the program is Dr. Sanjay Arora, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at USC and a nationally recognized speaker. Are you new to trauma? Don't see too much trauma? Experienced but want a fresh view of trauma management? This is the course for you. Consider it a condensed, more practical and certainly more enjoyable review of trauma care than ATLS!
